cheyenne, blackfoot or crow style women's dress

Plains dresses: There are two common dress styles used by plains women. The first is constructed from three large hides using one of the three for the yoke covering the shoulders and connecting the two longer hides that make up the back and front of the dress. This one was commonly worn by Cheyenne and Sioux women. The other style, common on the northern plains, involves two large hides making up the front and back of the dress. In the case of the Blackfeet, these two hides are turned neck down and the tail end of the hides are cut and sewn together into a narrow yoke to connect the front and back.
